I now create minimalist abstract work which blurs the line between traditional painting and textile art. I explore the airy and textural qualities of layering diluted acrylics and water on raw canvas, embracing the volatility of staining techniques. I am driven to create perfectly imperfect paintings that radiate subtle, organic elegance.
Creating art is necessary for me, each and every painting has a piece of my heart and soul put into it. My hope is for you, my collectors and potential clients, to draw immense meaning and calm from my work.

Ali Enache (b. 1985, Washington, D.C.) is an abstract artist living and working in Los Angeles, California. Enache’s minimalist work explores the airy and textural qualities of layering acrylics and water on raw canvas. She embraces the volatility of staining techniques and is driven to create perfectly imperfect paintings that radiate subtle, organic elegance. Through the use of sometimes dozens of layers, the diluted paint and water soak the raw canvas, leaving behind stained subtle forms and rich layered compositions. Often inspired by color harmonies found in nature or design, Enache paints with subdued and moody palettes that evoke contemplation. Her work encourages a sense of deep emotion, offering collectors a window into the intensity and depth she feels when painting.
Enache is currently represented by Tappan Collective in Los Angeles, Sugarlift in New York City, and Freeman Gallery in Sydney. Her work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Rue Magazine, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, and more. Her work can be found in private collections across the U.S. and Canada and she has completed numerous custom commissions for collectors and interior designers.
Enache recently exhibited in Tappan Collective’s group show “L.A. MADE” in Los Angeles (October 2023). She is also showing her first solo show at Westpark Home by Katie Monkhouse Interiors outside San Francisco, CA through the Fall/Winter 2023 season. She recently exhibited at The Beverly Hills Art Show (May 2023), The Other Art Fair in LA (March/September 2022) and Superfine Art Fair in LA (October 2022).

I have been an artist since a very young age, taking art courses, attending summer art camps and then high school advanced level art courses with a well known local artist in the DC area, Walt Bartman. As a young adult, I turned my focus to graphic design, as I thought that it would serve as a good career path. Graphic design allowed me to wear an artistic hat, dive deep into color theory and learn the basics of managing client expectations. I worked as a graphic designer and art director in communications for over 10 years.
When the pandemic started, I picked up my paint brush again and never looked back. It was the missing piece on the road to becoming who I am. My artistic journey may have started many years earlier, but it has all been leading to this moment. I have rededicated myself to art with the goal of bringing calm, hope, and beauty into people's homes, the way creating art has brought me to this wonderful place.
In 2020, I transitioned to a full-time career in painting. I am most proud of building a successful art business online, following my passion, and putting my work out there. For many, that can be the hardest part – showing your work and staying confident. I work through every personal challenge through my art and seek grounding and respite through painting.
In a world full of uncertainty, fear, and constant motion, I am driven to create work that elicits emotion or contemplation, and conveys a sense of healing and connection. To do so, I draw on color harmonies found in nature and architecture which exude an almost primeval quality, leading back to the elemental beauty of untouched landscapes and raw materials. Similar to a designer, I contemplate the ebb and flow of color, shape, texture, and negative space. I explore the depths of my own emotions to create work that is moving and soulful, a welcome antidote to our mindless scroll culture.
Working with diluted acrylic and water, I create layered color field paintings on raw canvas that convey a range of moods and emotions. Using a soak-stain technique, I pour diluted acrylic onto water soaked canvas, manipulating the resulting forms with a hake brush, foam brush, or my hands. This method allows the paint to permeate the canvas, generating a surface that evokes the soft and fluid qualities of textiles. The interaction between paint and canvas appears as though an organic dialogue is unfolding, where the canvas plays an active role in shaping the artwork. Subtly rich fields of color emerge, and I am entranced by the allure of the earthy and subdued color palettes which flow through my work with a sense of timelessness and tranquility.
I embrace the imperfections that result from the layering of acrylic washes, painting stories of depth and resilience. I attempt to capture the tension between modern elegance and unrefined beauty through the use of muted color fields and textured raw canvas. Often revisiting one piece ten or more times, my work has a richness and depth to it, despite the absence of three dimensional paint. Muted colors allow the canvas's texture to shine, establishing a balance that is both meditative and visually engaging, fostering a sense of grounding and vulnerability in each work.

Themes of persistence and moving forward stretch across Strong For So Long, a series of contemplative color field paintings. Muted tones of musky ambers to twilight purples weave together threads of melancholy and hope, while blurring the line between traditional painting and textile art. I continue to explore concepts of generating paintings with textural nuances, while evoking soft and fluid qualities of textiles. Each wash or brush mark is a symbol of the strength found in vulnerability and the quiet power of resilience during transitions.
Days Soon Gone invites the viewer to explore the profound connection between earth’s ancient hues and the ageless spirit within us all. Inspired by the passage of time, the works try to capture the essence of nature’s evolution, invoking elements and landscapes weathered by time. The vintage earth tones serve as a bridge between the past and present, bringing the viewer a sense of comfort and familiarity. It celebrates the wisdom gained over time, acknowledging the inherent beauty in every stain and imperfection.
Echoes, a new series of meditative color field paintings, explores summer-inspired tones and textures that feel uniquely raw and vintage. The series conveys a sense of healing and reprieve from a world that never stops. A moment of contemplation when you are too often pulled in different directions. The works on raw canvas echo the experience of calm and contemplation that I felt when creating the work.

My debut collection with Tappan Collective, ‘Closer,’ embodies my search for the essence of minimalism by stripping away the excess and focusing on the essential. Each composition is a study in simplicity, where the interplay of color, texture, and imperfect layering takes center stage. Through a restrained color palette and deliberate pours of water and diluted paint, I invite viewers to get closer, to contemplate the profound emotions that can be found in the subtleties of my work.
